I'm hosting a Dog First Aid course run by Dog First Aid Training — a network of vet professionals and vet-educated trainers. Whether you're a dog owner, walker, sitter, groomer or trainer, this half-day course will give you the confidence and practical skills to act fast if your dog (or a dog in your care) ever needs help.

What you'll learn
Across the four hours, you'll cover:
The role of a first aider and legal compliance
The foundations of dog first aid
What to look for in an emergency
Taking your dog's vitals — pulse, breathing rate and temperature
CPR
Seizures
Bleeding and bandaging wounds
Canine shock
Gastric dilatation volvulus (bloat)
Burns and scalds
Toxic ingestion
Heat stroke
Choking
You'll leave knowing what to do in the moments before you can get to a vet — which, in an emergency, can make all the difference.
